Welcome to the Hillside School Planning Information Page

Planning for appropriate school space for Needham's students continues to be a priority for the School Committee. The reconstruction of Needham High School in 2008, High Rock School in 2009, and renovation of the Newman School in 2012 are clear examples of this community's support of and commitment to its young people in grades Preschool through 12. Continued renovation and maintenance projects at the remaining schools, including updates at Pollard and a possible classroom expansion at Needham High School, also top the agenda.

The replacement of the existing Hillside Elementary School with a new school has long been a priority for the School Committee and community. Fortunately, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has agreed to partner with the Town of Needham to construct a new school on Central Avenue to replace the Hillside School.

Please use the links and resources on this website to get information about the history of the project, including school space planning; to understand the issues and deficiencies associated with the existing school building; and to view schematic drawings, plans, and a timeline for a proposed new school on Central Avenue.
